WANA (Nov 16) – On Friday, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations stated that Iran follows legal and judicial authorities through the assassination of Gen.Soleimani, which Trump ordered. This response followed questions from U.S. media about alleged written assurances that Iran has no plans to target U.S. President Donald Trump.

The mission emphasized that the Islamic Republic has consistently pursued justice for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani through legal and judicial avenues. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has long declared its commitment to addressing the assassination of Soleimani via legal and judicial mechanisms, adhering fully to internationally recognized legal principles,” the statement read.

General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy leader of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, were killed along with eight others in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad Airport on January 3, 2020. The attack, ordered by then-President Trump, was widely condemned by Iran as a violation of international law and sovereignty.

Iran’s UN mission reiterated its commitment to seeking accountability for Soleimani’s assassination through established international legal channels, avoiding escalation while adhering to principles of international law.
